Past Exhibitions (2020)

Captured Moments

Just like how the Impressionists aimed to capture the passion of a fleeting moment on their canvases, this part of the exhibition showcases precious moments captured by the artists using a range of contemporary media. Ordinary objects and places take on new meaning as we smell the flowers, appreciate the architecture of buildings around us, walk past empty places, pack our belongings and stare at shadows cast on the floor. Time seemingly slowed down for many of us this year as we spend more time reflecting and taking stock of our lives. These ordinary but precious moments are eternalised in the works in this section.

Future Ready

As technology becomes an indispensable part of our lives, works in this section reflect and address the impact of technology on our human existence at multiple levels. The works explore how technology has changed many aspects of our lifestyle, from how we live, how we interact with one another, how we make art, to even how we perceive the world around us. While technology opens up new worlds and dimensions, it also brought with it new dangers and challenges.

Home Truly

What is home? It is a place where someone has a connection with. These artworks show the appreciation of the unique and special culture of their home. Whether it be unique locations such as Marina Bay Sands and Changi Airport or the history of the Singapore River, there are many places yet to be discover. Through this exhibition, the artists explore moments and experiences that express their identities through what they believe to be their Singapore.

I Wish...

Everyone’s ideals and wishes are different. Whether it be simple things such as a walk in nature or something more complex like happiness. While this pandemic has momentarily put a stop to many things in our lives, one can always dream and wish. This part of the exhibition allows the artists to showcase their innermost desires and wishes through their own art styles. The different mediums and art styles also give the artworks personal touches too.

Introspective Spaces

Introspective spaces examines the artistic process of mindful introspection as the artists reflect upon their internal mindscape using abstract and semi-abstract components. Works in this section play with basic art elements such as shapes, forms, textures and colours to create compositions that visually express the artists’ state of minds, which may encompass complex emotions, stories and hopes they hold dear.

Thank You ...

Undoubtedly, this year’s pandemic has brought disruption to our daily lives. Through the constraints, challenges and inconveniences, we’ve learnt that strength comes in numbers and we are stronger by banding together. With this, the importance of community comes to light and we become more appreciative of the people around us. We work together towards becoming a more inclusive society.  Here, our students express their gratitude to the frontline workers such as doctors and nurses, our domestic workers who help build our city and even teachers who overcame obstacles to ensure learning continues.

Virtual Choir

In view of the continued uncertainty amidst the COVID-19 situation and its implications to existing norms, the National Day 1992 rendition “It’s the Little Things” was chosen to inspire everyone to appreciate ‘the little things’ that we may overlook in our lives. At the same time, the musical collaboration presents a great opportunity where students from the W7 Cluster of schools can work together to inspire all of us with their varied musical talents and moving voice.
